Rob posts a message on the board to seek advice on the validity of several approaches/therapies to his problems and receives a pitiful response for such an enlightened group. Instead of providing the answer that he desires the board degenerates into a pointless discussion of religion. Discussions of religion do have their place here and if a message was posted I would eagerly join the fray. But let us not forget Rob, who no doubt, has thrown up his hands in frustration over the response that he received.

Rob if for some reason you are still reading the voluminous dung heap that your message generated then read the responses to this message. Hopefully, someone will have posted some good advice for you as a response to this message ( I doubt it).

As before the only advice I have for you is to consult your therapist about Mindfulness Meditation. Meditation may not be the answer for you but it certainly cannot hurt except to waste time. Maybe get a copy of Meditation for Dummies 2nd edition. I am currently reading it and it seems to be a good book so far. It is now available at Barnes and Noble. Another book about meditation is Meditation for Wimps. It provides general meditation techniques and meditation practices of the major religions Hindu, Christian, Islam, Judaism and Buddhism.

You've "called a spade a spade"! Many of your skeptical colleagues would do well to follow your example of sticking to the subject.

Rob, if you're still listening, I know of two members of SSE who are CAM (Complementary/Alternative Medicine) experts. If you're interested, I can provide contact info (with their permission), and perhaps they can recommend selected useful therapies to you.

Bruce is right about meditation techniques. I practiced TM for several years to reduce work-related stress. It helped a whole lot, and started me on the path that now causes me to challenge so-called skeptics with the zest that I do.

Re. meditation: Per the old Yiddish saying, "Couldn't hurt!" It is an ancient and revered practice in all major cultures that I know of. It hasn't been around for so long for no reason. Prayer is one form.

that thread started out as a serious question and became a screwball shambles. Sorry to see that happen. Apologies, Rob.
