..."This month, The Center for Inquiry and The Tallahassee Skeptics are seeking creative photographers and computer artists who can concoct the most convincing UFO photo that uses a Tallahassee landmark or building as a backdrop. The winner will receive $250 in cash. The faux-UFO photo also will be published in the Tallahassee Democrat."...

What an awesome idea. Throw thousands of fakes that people admit to be fakes in with the mix of fakes that people don't admit are fakes thus reducing the value of the lies.

Maybe PhACT can take this concept and modify it and come up with its own low cost idea of merit.

Perhaps PhACT can start with pictures of ghost orbs or halos over known skeptics. Know of any pictures like that??

I wanted to ...

fake some crop circles. But now that it has been shown how easy they are to make I decided not to bother.

Ghost orbs would be interesting. A good addition would be to use a film camera as a comparison. Same scene different cameras.

Actually, ....

Al had taken a really good ghost orb picture, the orb hovering above Eric Krieg and Michael Shermer. It was not planned, it just happened.

Maybe he will post it here again?

O' the irony

Here is the requested image. Michael Shermer and Eric covered by a friendly orb.

BTW, I started this thread, but because of constant difficulties I encounter while using this message board, my name wasn't included. I know that these difficulties are because the message board doesn't like my security settings. Well I am not changing them as I don't for any other place that doesn't like them. I can't tell you how many business' have lost online orders from me because they are too snoopy for my security settings. I just go somewhere else.

if you don't see an image below, just copy and paste the address into your browser and go there

Spooky

Do you notice that the orb is just about dead center in the photo? I am not sure what that might mean but perhaps something with the shutter.

center of orb

that did seem spooky to me, until I realized the lens would tend to center an orb and the picture taker would also try to center the subject of interest

I zoomed in ...

on the photo to get a better view of the orb. But the JPEG compression introduces too much noise or ghosting (no pun intended). My guess is lens reflections becaus ethe orb seems to be two overlapping circles. You can see the amopunt of over lap at upper left protion of the orb.
