Tracing my Polish roots

by

My father, Edmund Paul Chyla, was born in Gydnia, Poland on 27th April 1907. I believe he was married in Poland and had four children. He was interred in a concentration camp for some time during the second world war, escaped and arrived in the UK via Belgium and fought in the Polish Free Army.

I never knew what happened to his family in Poland.

I know that he would never have divorced his Polish wife, and would not have her presumed dead to enable him to marry my mother.

My mother died in 1972 and my father died in 1979.

I feel a space in my life because I can't get any answers to the questions I have with regard to my Polish connections and don't know where to start looking or asking.
