Here are some images of a 1/72 scale Italeri AB41 built by my good friend Stan Spooner.

It shows that even a "ham fisted" aircraft modeller like Stan can do an "ok" job at armour!

I'm not completely convinced, though....I still think it's completely done in Photoshop...that huge hand looks a bit suspect!

all kidding aside, It's a wonderful, beautiful presentation...

Look for a complete article in an upcoming issue of TMMI.

Enjoy!

Best,
Nick Cortese

Nico, Nice!

July 4 2008, 8:01 AM

Nice work, Nico
Can you post a few more completed images of the model on the base with the camel. I really love the composition and nameplate as well.
-Mrosko-
Yes you can send the piece to me. LOL!

Thanks,but...

July 4 2008, 9:28 AM

...you should ask Stan!

This marvelous piece was done by Stan Spooner who is better known for his aircraft models...this is if very first 1/72 armour piece!

Thanks for thinking it was me, but..I don't ever think I'll ever have the talent for this type of modeling..

...he just asked me to post it for up for him here.

I'm sure he will be "more than happy" have it sent over to you!!

Best,
Nick Cortese

Superb Diorama

July 4 2008, 10:06 AM

This is a superb little scene with a great title and brilliant presentation. I've always liked the look of this wee Italian vehicle and sitting it next to the camel is just inspired- bravo!

Outstanding work....

July 4 2008, 11:45 AM

Great assembly, painting and display. It looks like the display cost more than the model, but it realy makes it a work of art!
I am curious about the wheels. The Itaeri wheels I have seen were not well detailed; were these replaced with aftermarket? I think CMK makes resin replacements?

They are kit wheels

July 9 2008, 1:34 AM

Stephen, sorry I took so long to comment on your question. These are the kit wheels. They have plenty of hub detail but no tread at all! I played with the idea of making a master and casting some up but decided to just go with what came with the kit. As for CMK... I don’t know if they have come up with a replacement set or not.

Great Stuff, Nicola.....

July 4 2008, 3:41 PM

Hi Mate;

That is lovely work, but I'd expect no less from Stan, he is a hugely talented modeller, and I have been a big fan of his stuff for several years.

Great stuff, thanks for sharing it with us.

My hat is off to Stan, again.

Cheers, Pat

Wonderful little scene.

Hi, Stan:

Beauty of a diorama. The AB41 is nice, but adding the camel really elevates it.

Cheers,

Chris

You put me in the hot spot, in public to boot????

July 7 2008, 5:20 PM

Well, I'll give it to you, but then by default I'll have permission to hand out your private contact info to the first guy that asks me! Did you ever for a second consider the possibility that Stan doesn't want me passing out his email address???
