she couldn't breathe yesterday afternoon very well. So, she's going to be at the hospital for a few days for tests about lungs and heart. no, she hasn't done this before. She does retain some water sometimes but yesterday she had a lot and in the afternoon she said she couldn't breathe. No chest pain, no nothing came before this... so I'll know more in a few days. They couldn't tell too much from her xrays and cat scan about what was really going on in the heart-lung thing.
The emergency room staff were great to us at the hospital but you still have to wait endlessly in ERs so Mom was admitted and then I got home about 1:30. Fortunately, the hospital is only about 3-4 miles from me.
I'll probably fall asleep in the middle of the afternoon wherever I am!
I hope everything is better now. From what you describe, it sounds like congestive heart failure. My mom had it, and she had the retaining water and breathing problems. Hers was well advanced before she went to the doctor about it, and I think that's what made everything so bad. It's good that your mom got attention soon. I hope she's feeling better now. Take care of you.
After the ordeal you two have been through, it would be wonderful if the doc's could treat this promptly and make your Mom better FAST!! It does sound like CHF, I bet that is what it is.
