Response to post mortem tasks |
| Post Mortem entailed washing the deceased person, affixing toe tags, and putting in a body bag. We usually changed the hospital gown and did some minor grooming too --- not required but we thought, respectful.
Some other 'paperwork' was done and the mortuary was contacted. We also did an inspection and saved anything that the person had on them (jewelry) and did a thorough search of the room to ensure all belongings were bagged and tagged. Otherwise, it was similar to discharging someone where the room needs to be cleaned. CNA's are responsible for disconnecting and removing all machines that may have been in the room which is true all the time.
We had a fair number of people pass away on the unit --- it was an oncology unit along with med-surg.
