CNA not a stable job?

April 29 2008 at 9:54 PM

I got certified last year, and so far I have worked in two nursing homes and got fired from both of them. Both of these experiences have left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't ever want to work in a nursing home again. I am considering doing home health work.

Mainly because the job is dominated by women, and they were so catty to me. A lot of it had to do with jealousy issues. There was a med tech who did not like me and she was going behind my back and making trite complaints about my job performance. What really sealed the deal for me was when a patient's daughter saw me putting her mother to bed and accused me of having her mom's foot dangling off of the bed rail. She then complained that I put her mother to bed too early...but her mother told me that she wanted to go to bed at that time.

The next job I was bullied by an older LPN. She used to always keep her eye on me, and I even heard her say that I thought I was "all that" because I have a lot of hair. She started writing me up for all kinds of things, and eventually I was let go.

I worked so hard at both of those jobs, came to work everyday on time, and I did the job to the best of my ability. I am not studying to become an RN and I am praying that things will be better. That having a bit of prestige will ensure job stability unlike a CNA that is so easily dispensible
