Also, I am not sure if I even want to go into the healthcare field as an RN anymore. I have been taking all of these pre reqs and I'd hate to start all over again. I was told that it's a different ballgame as an RN, and you have more stability.
Another thing I observed is that nursing homes NEVER keep the same CNAs for long. They are always going on these firing rampages and recruiting new staff. It might be a handful that always stick around--they are the butt kissers, the snitches, and the tattle tellers.
The families are also WICKED, and you better hope that they don't lie on you and say that you weren't doing your job because they will get rid of you in a hot second. The nursing homes would rather sacrifice a CNA to make the abusive families happy because of all the threats they will make against them. Or the further drama they will cause.
Lastly, it seems that in order to survive in LTC you need to have a 'pack mentality' meaning join cliques, know how to socialize and find strategies to deal with catty women etc etc. I am not a clique type of person, I'm an individual so I am going to try looking into Home Health Care where I can work alone.
