Response to I couldnt agree with you more

Just reading your post reminds me of my first CNA job almost 4 years ago. I was assigned to a floor that only people with seniority were assigned to.They were utterly shocked when they saw a fresh young face walk on the floor and man, they were not happy to see me! The CNA and the LPN plotted against me since day one. The Unit Clerk just thought I was too young & sassy and would give me a hard way to go everytime I had to communicate with her. I would go home and cry. They would complain about every thing I did all shift long. They would lie and say the residents were not pleased with my care. One day I was written up for not cleaning a resident properly and not doing nail care on her. I was also written up on the same occasion for not doing misc things for several other residents. The nurse never told me she was disatisfied with my work performance-not once. I just walked on my floor one day, and was told I needed to go to Staff Development because they need to speak with me. When I got to staff development, the ADON gave me the rundown on how catty they were on my floor, and offered to transfer me right away. She said she had a woman come over and check my performance and she found nothing wrong. All the residents were pleased to have me and did not want me to leave. The ADON tore up the Write Up and said she would have a talk with the nurse. She was appauled at all the things the nurse wrote me up about at once-without once discussing it with me to give me a chance to correct whatever it was I was doing wrong. She gave me a final heads up to CYA-and I'll never forget it. She explained the old nurses eat the young nurses, and sometimes they will do anything to get someone removed.

{The resident I was accused of not cleaning had a rare condition that only 16 people in the U.S were known to have. She developed blisters all over her body and under her nails. I was unable to care for her well because I was told not to pop or tear the blisters as they would cause skin tears and bleeding. (the blisters actually absorbed fecal matter). The poor woman was a wreck and to be honost-probably needed special care at a hospital.}

Needless to say it was a learning experience. No, I did not let the Caddy staff run me off the floor, I stayed for 2 years before I quite.

Other events have happend since then as a result of some jealous and/or snot nosed somebody, but I won't get into that. All you have to remember is to Cover Your A**. You will need to pick up experience at an LTC, but don't let others get to you. You take that experience and use it somewhere else. There will always some kind of obstacle to deal with no matter what kind of job you have. Just do your best, go to work to work, not make friends.
