I bought a contender 49 and was I supprised when I opened the box. Not one cosmetic flaw to be seen!I did , however have to clean off the oil crap. This rifle is a real beauty. I mounted a Simmons Pro-Air 4X scope in accu-shot mounts and took it out to the farm. I did not even clean the barrel I just wanted to go shootin'. Once I sighted in the rig with Chinese Beeman Silver bears I was able to cloverleaf 5 shot groups at 20 yards offhand. It packs a decent punch with little recoil and no smoke or twang.Needless to say I am very impressed with this $80 rifle.BTW, The last new $80 rifle I bought that impressed me this much was a QB 78. Check it out on Compasseco website.

Contender 49/ QB18 Rifle

July 4 2008, 10:58 AM

Yes, this is a nice little air rifle. The factory designation is QB18 - actually QB18A with the included scope that's on the Contender 49.

We're just starting to sell this rifle in its non-scoped form as the QB18. You can see it at http://www.archerairguns.com/QB18-Chinese-Air-Rifle-p/qb18.htm. Like you, I'm impressed with the fit and finish of the QB18 samples I've seen so far and the gun shoots easily too.

Together with a number of other rare Industry Brand springers such as the QB25 and AR2023, they're on our site in "stealth mode" at the present (you have to click on the "Airguns" link and search through the listings to find them). Once we have volume stocks available for shipping, I'll list them in an easier-to-find manner. That should be in a week or two...

Enjoy the holiday!

Velocity

I would be interested in the velocity of both calibers. This information is missing from the web site.
Thanks
Chris

I was quite impressed with my TF 49

Here's a write-up I did a while back. They sure are pretty for a cheap Chinese rifle.

I wound up trading mine at Roanoke last fall, since I already have several low- to mid-powered breakbarrels, but overall, I thought it was a great value.

I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

I know you have heard this before but it needs repeating. Nice write up. Did you ever figure out how fast it was shooting?
Thanks again. It was worth the wait!

and use it for what I bought it for, plinking and pest control. The model I received is quite accurate and very easy to shoot.
