Jesus wakes up. He and his disciples are camped out at Mount of Olives. It's a chilly morning. He stands up, shaking the sand from His robe. He enjoys feeling the warm material, knowing it was made just for Him... by those that love Him. Jesus knows it was hard to make, since it has no seams. Yet, He knows the love behind the work... and puts His robe on... His face looking skyward, feeling such love from earth and heaven. He rubs his eyes, stretching his arms out.
He is now smiling at the sunrise. The clouds seem to be happy His human eyes are on them. The clouds move, and sprinkles of the morning sun are now on Jesus. He walks around the camp site, watching His disciples dreaming sweet dreams.
He listens to the birds singing Him their morning songs. He tilts His head sideways... glances up at the huge olive tree branches. He sees the little birds singing... and flashes them a smile. As much as a little bird's brain will let it know... they know they love Him... and they know He loves them.
He walks away from the campsite, from His disciples, to a huge rock. In solitude, He kneels at the rock. He looks up and prays, talking to His Father in Heaven.
Jesus finishes His prayer and stands up. He walks back to camp, up to the closest disciple. It's Timothy. He's sprawled out on his robe, sound asleep... a fly buzzes around his face. It lands on Timothy’s nose. Jesus smiles, then laughs. He knows the fly likes Timothy. His laughter wakes his disciple up. Timothy smiles, as he waves the fly away from his face. He sits on his robe, and looks at Jesus... who just started laughing again. The fly is back. Timothy waves at the fly, puts his head down... and chuckles. He loves to hear Jesus laugh. He doesn't understand why it's so funny, but still... how good it is to hear Jesus laugh... just because a fly lit on his nose !!! Jesus is everything to Timothy.
By this time, the rest are awake. They sit on their robes... feeling their bones protest at their night under the stars. Peter finds a bundle of food next to his robe. The disciples are excited. How wonderful !!! Breakfast was left for them during the night!!!
Jesus walks away... back to the huge rock he had knelt at earlier. He sits down. Jesus knows a man and his wife, from the local village, followed Him to His resting spot. They supplied Him and His disciples with not only a good breakfast, but also everything they needed for their nourishment for the day. The man and his wife were so thankful that Jesus had healed their child the day before.
Right now, Jesus knew they loved Him and wanted to help Him and His followers. Jesus knew that later, their souls would be saved by His blood. His smile faded. He looks up. His heart bursting with love for them and their child.
Back at the campsite, as Peter distributes the bundles of bread, cheese and fruit, they begin to discuss between themselves the travels they know they will be taking. Who will go with who. They argue... and just when they think they've got it all figured out, Jesus walks back to the camp.
He gently talks to them... changing their plans. They listen to His sweet voice, feeling His love.
Jesus walks around them, feeling the stones beneath his sandals. As He walks, He is telling them which house to go to, which road to take, who will go with who. His robe brushes them as He walks next to them. He tells each their destinations. They listen. Now, they know they will have a successful day.
Next, they rise, hug Jesus, and set out to do what Jesus has instructed them. Their robes float out behind them with each determined step. Timothy is still waving his hand in the air, chasing his fly away. Jesus knows that fly will be with Timothy, for most of the day... and laughs again.
Now... Jesus is alone in Mount of Olives. He turns and heads towards the temple... toward the religious people. His steps are steady... and his gaze is straight. He knows what lies ahead. When He gets there, He shares truth, wisdom, understanding. Yet, the most religious people on earth... reject Jesus. They don’t love Him. They argue with Him. They find fault with Him. They want to persecute Him. They want to stone Him.
Jesus leaves the temple... He knows that today is not the day they will be able to touch Him. He sets His journey toward those He knows He can help... those He knows will love Him.
Jesus starts on His real journey, to save souls... leaving behind confusion, hatred, jealousy, self-righteousness, indignation, pride... ugliness.
Still, the birds sing for Him... somehow knowing... Jesus... He is close by.
Then, the little birds see Him. Jesus is walking towards them. Aha !!! They sing louder. More birds chirp in the song. The clouds move... and the sun gently shines on Jesus.
As He makes His way toward the ones He knows will be able to teach, He smiles. He hears the little birds songs of love... that He knows they sing for Him. He tilts his head in appreciation of their love. His robe is brushing the grass and wildflowers, as it flaps out behind Him.
He raises His face towards heaven as He walks... and smiles.
