I have been trying to fine tune my 351C after a rebuild and it is now running better, however, it pings when accelerating and there is engine run-on (dieseling) after shutting it off. Here are the details:
- The timing is set to 6 degrees BTDC with the vacuum disconnected.
- The harmonic balancer was just replaced.
- The timing gearset/cam was installed straight up (dot to dot).
- I have double checked my lifter preload and all are within .030 and .040 as recommended by Comp Cams.
- The cam is a Comp 268, heads are 2V, intake is Edelbrock, and it has a holley.
- Distributor is stock with single points.
- Engine is a rebuild with 9.0:1 compression.
How do I get this to stop pinging and dieseling?
