3.0 stroke with 5.315 rod
3.0 stroke with 5.400 rod
3.25 stroke with 5.315 rod
Honestly, anything would be awesome.
this is the 2nd set of $1000 pistons i've had to have custom made, because nobody makes pistons for one of fords all-time best engines! UUGHH!

I built a 331ci '70 Boss motor using an SRP flat
top piston p/n 206069. I had to hone my rods to .928
for the brand x dia. pin but that was easy. It's
actually for a 351C stroker combo but came up .010
down in the bore after I had the block trued . This
flat top piston 331 made 442 hp@6200 with a solid cam
and factory intake . I actually used the C7FE LeMans
cam for the 289 to really keep the budget down . The
steel valves aren't happy with much more cam than that.
I heard from a guy at SRP that a 347 flat top is
due this year.

Make a set to work with 76cc open chamber heads that has a small dome to fill the back part of the chamber opposite the spark plug. Not a dome that is shaped to work with closed chamber heads. And if you want, one that works with a 5.400" rod 347 and a 6.00" aussie rod 351c as well and ...

Like Duke, I would love to see some slugs w/ domes for stock stroke with 5.315 and 5.4, and even with the Boss/289 5.155s. I am stymied at the moment on two engines, trying to build the funds for custom pistons for one each 5.315 & 5.4" rod Boss, one of which will be .060 over. If you had 'em, I would buy 'em. SRP has a Cleveland piston that is just about right for the 5.4 rod engine (1.3 CH), but it is flat-top with the one relief...not enough compression even with 57CC +/- chambers, and I don't think they make it in .060. I would even buy a set for a 302 Clevor w/ open heads, with a dome as Andy suggested. I would not buy any (for 8.2/8.206 blocks) for more than a .25 stroker, but realistically these days, more stroke seems more popular.

I've just finished a dozen years of reliable service from a stock dimensioned BOSS302 with 13:1 JE pistons and a stout .657/.644 solid flat tappet.
the motor made 470rwhp with the Roush intake and an HP750.
It ran 7.28 @ 96mph in a 3300lb 68 mustang with street tires and pump gas on a 4 speed toploader.
Current build is a 331 with 5.315 rods 12:1 CP pistons and a Kaase spec'ed .744/.727 solid roller. Hopefully the porting development, extra cubes, more lift and less dome interference will make more steam.
Thank you for your observations, and again...any parts that help the cause will be warmly welcomed by the Ford faithful!
James,
A long rod , stock stroke Boss 302 is a loser . The
already mild bottom end power goes away even more . I
would like to see a Boss 302 piston offering from SRP
as well . For those of you that feel the same way
send an email of your needs to astevenson@jepistons.com
and based on demand Alan can add parts to the line.
Good luck
Randy
Maybe it will be a loser, but in a non-drag race Pinto with 5 gears, I am not too concerned with low end. I've been wanting to do a Boss similar to the LeMans style 302s, which used 5.315 rods, I believe. Duke's Boss is also a good inspiration in my case, though I am not aiming for a drag engine with the 550-575hp or so at the crank that I'm guessing he's getting.

JE/SRP only makes forged pistons .The SRP's are made
from 4032 hi silicon aluminum that has a lower rate of
expansion than 2618 .That allows tighter piston to wall
for less noise . 4032 alloy doesn't like 8500+rpm as I
found 30years ago on one of my Boss 302 motors .
