Tsjeard
by Sherry
I'm looking for information about an approved stallion Tsjeard. Who owns him? Where is he? etc.
My gelding, Diego, was sired by Tsjeard and I would like to know more about him and maybe get some pictures.

A Dutch friend told me today that he had heard about troubles amongst the breeders of Friesins in Holland. He is not a horse person so he was short on details - Does anyone know anything about this?

On the Friesian Exchange website, it states that "KRIST" has lost his breeding privledges on account of his offspring. Does any body know why?
I'm looking at a stallion that is by him.

Well, I can tell you only that his offsping werent cutting it and they took his breeding priv's., now that is also on "hear-say" so dont hold that against me if its not quite on the money, ok. :o)
But... on the matter of fact end of this topic:
According to FHANA Rules & Regulations:
3.5.7. Approved Breeding Privileges Withdrawn - Stallions which have had their breeding approval withdrawn remain listed in the Studbook for Stallions, although they are no longer eligible as sires of studbook horses. All offspring born or concieved prior to the withdrawal of Approved Breeding Privileges remain eligible for studbook registration. In the event that the adult offspring of such a stallion subsequently demonstrate exceptional ability in equestrian sports, the stallion may have his Approved Breeding Privileges reinstated.
So, I would assume it is possible he could become approved. But I do think that his chances of being approved do go down somewhat if he is sired by a disqualified stallion. The chances are slim in anycase, and he is more likely to have faults from his sire. And even if he did not have inherited faults, the simple knowledge that he was by a disqualified stallion may mar his chances, if only unconciously. Because he is by Krist..the judges may be looking for the same faults of other offspring that disqualified him.
Of course it is still possible he could be approved..and there is nothing in the rules that I can see that would disqualify this colt from testing.

I am purchasing a 9 month old Friesian colt and was wondering if I should feed him any type of supplements and if so what should I give him. Where I am boarding him they are feeding him a junior feed. Is this enough for him? This is my first friesian. Any response would be appreciated Thanks!!

Hi Heather,
Friesian horses start around $8,000. for weanlings and go up from there depending on age and training and pedigree. Check the FHANA website for breeders and sellers.

I have a 20 year old registered morgan mare that I had purchased for my 8 year old daughter that I'm selling. My daughter has lost interest in horses, so I'm wanting to sell her.
This mare is large, sturdy, well behaved and would love to have another child to love.
If you're interested, please contact me. I also may have a gorgeous registered arabian mare that's 14 years old for sale. She's also been ridden by my daughter. Both ladies have wonderful personalities and are chestnut in color.
Thank you
jill

Lyn, sorry to dissapoint you, but to the best of my knowledge, unless you get a Friesian crossed with something else, Friesians themselves only come in black.( Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You are right. If you want a registered Friesian it can ONLY be black. You can't even register it if there is white anywhere other than a small star on the forehead. Black is the only color and thank God for that. They are beautiful that way!
