I know you asked W4 and not me, but hey, let me weigh in.
Actually getting noticed and to an interview so far has been luck, so I can't really help you there.
Once you're at the actual interview phase: For god's sake, have an answer for "What do you think you can bring to this organisation?" It, or variants thereof, is always asked. Hell, my cousin recently applied for washing dishes in Whistler, Canada, and he got asked that. For washing dishes. I think. The story's a little hazy, but it's a great illustration of the question catching on everywhere.
