When I first got my 78 it had 205/50 13 sumitomos and I thought I'd see how it looked up front. It took three spacers to make it fit and clear the spring perch. Once mounted it just appeared that they were too far out, and the effect of extending the track by 30mm made the camber look ridiculous. The steering felt a bit heavier too, especially at lower speeds and the tire rubbed the inner wheel well just before lock. The 205/60 series will probably rub sooner. Lastly, IMHO the 205's are really too wide for the 5.5" rim and the sidewalls move alot and feels wobbly.
These are the only pics I still have of those tires...
There are a few other things to consider too. First of all stacking OE plates is not at all precise for lug centric wheels. For me, there is just too much room for error when installing them with bolts. Studs would be better than bolts, but a solid spacer that is hub centric and has a machined lip to be wheel centric as well would be the best bet. Still to consider is that by doing so, using either method, you will extend the front track of the vehicle by 30mm. That will most likely have some effects on handling, braking and front bearing wear.
The posted picture of my blue 79 shows 185/60 13 on CD16's mounted using one OE plate (with the car on IAP red springs and Monte Hospital Camber correction bushings).
Just one guy's opinion based on actually testing it...
