bill and ted were walking along and saw a sign that said "jeet kune do". bill asked ted, "what is jeet kune do?". ted answered, "jeet kune do is bruce lee's personal expression of martial art, bill". bill replied, "no way". ted replied, "way". bill replied again, "no way". ted again replied, "way". both looked at each other and grinned, exclaiming, "the way of no way...excellent!".
ive recently purchased a book by a man named george hajnasr. it is an interesting book. he calls it "jeet kune do, the system without a system". the book is about 451 pages and boasts over 3200 photos to illustrate jeet kune do. after having scanned briefly through the book i find it to be interesting what he has done. while it may not be what we often refer to as jun fan jkd, it has some interesting ideas in it. my collection of jkd books includes all aspects of the expression of jkd written by various authors. some good, some not so good. ive purchased this book recently to keep my own library up to date on the various publications of jkd material.
over the years many a martial artist has taken bruce lee's ideas and turning them upside down and inside out. even today, i often run across those who train in the classical karate styles who claim to have read about jkd and seem to have their own idea of it. most typically they seem to believe (still) that jkd is a thrown-together mess of the best of the best and whatever you want goes. i try to educate those who have this misinterperatation of jkd. i do my best. it seems to go off to the side of their understanding.
thank you to richie and his efforts to present the actual "way of no way" to the people of west palm beach and surrounding communities. your inspiration and dedication to true jkd continues to move me on in my own search for the truth in martial arts. have a great day. kevin
