| - How important is coaching? If you got half decent paddlers and know enough about how to race how much of a difference does having a coach make? There are several teams out there with no coach so I thought I would ask. |

I know that a good coach can squeeze out that little extra out of a crew on race day that can make the difference between a win or a loss. |

Nah, on race day it's all up to the paddlers themselves to give'r. Where the coach is essential is to train them properly during the season. |

I firmly believe that a coach who has taken the National Canadian Coaching Programs (NCCP) will be a better coach all around. |

Better coach than what? NCCP theory does give you some good insight, but so does experience. However, both combined together would be really good.
NCCP Level 2 or Level B (in the new system), gives you a good introduction to season planning, but then you've got to have a team that is prepared to dedidicate that time.
If you're looking for both in a coach...that would be me...somewhat. I do have Level 2 and hopefully getting Level 3 in the next year... Maybe I should get paid more then too... | |
