RANKING ! ! !August 8 2004 at 2:17 AM | Biggie |
| - When is the next update ? The last update was on july 7th and nothing since then. Is it because there has been no dragon boat competition in the meanwhile ? Is it because your calculator broke down ? Is it because you guys are not sober yet ? Or would it be because you're still trying to find a pic of that cute chinese girl by the announcer at the Montreal Dragon Boat Festival ? hahahahahaha |

they'll probably get a top 8 ranking from not even being ranked. |

GTDBC Seniors should get a honourable mention but shouldn't be ranked on the rankings...just my two cents |

I predict there will be some new additions: Jetstart, G&G, maybe Telus and Verdun Express

Why? because they are all better than teams at the bottom of the current list. Look up the results of Telus at MIDBF, Jetstart at Summer Sensation, Verdun at MIDBF, G&G at Pickering.
Now, why not?

Which G&G Team ??
And, the whole purpose of ranking teams is to assume that if ALL the teams were at a festival then this is probably how they would place. |

When will G&G show up at a real regatta, who the hell are they anyway?
Will we see them at GWN or will they continue to run scared?
Who beat them at Pickering?
- Wongs
- XPads
-Chiros
- who else??? |

G&G got second in A consolation in Pickering, for 8th place overall.
Crews that finished ahead of them were:
Scotia
X-Paddling
Dragonslayers
Hammerheads
SCC Team Chiropractic
Verdun
Imperial Dragons |

Those are respectable crews that beat them. But the real question is who did they beat? |

Will they continue to run scared? Have you ever considered that perhaps they enjoy the smaller races. Not every team is driven by the stupid rankings...some people actually just like to paddle hard and have fun.
Look up the word ethnocentric and see if that helps put things in perspective. |

Paddle hard and have fun? Not care about the rankings put out by anonymous ranking team? What's wrong with you? Is that what this sport is about? Is that what it should be about? Fun, paddling and enjoying the company of other people with similar interests?
You haven't been around many "Johnnys come late to the athletics" people, have you? They'll eat their young for a spot on the team, and then they'll spit on the back of those they walked over to get there. They'll wake up at 4AM practice, they'll train and train, they'll neglect their families, their children, their friends. Going up a notch in rankings put out by an anonymous group is what they live for. They were the last kids picked for the dodge ball teams, they were the kids everyone laughed at when they would fall of the gymnastics horse, they were the kids that never could make high school team in any sport, not even long distance spitting.
Dragonboat is the first sport they are good at, all they have to fight the onset of middle age, to appear better than their peers. For them these rankings and beating others are what's important, not the fun of the sport.
So yeah, some of them cannot understand that there are teams that go to a few events a year and just have fun. |

Are you sure you didn't mean "egocentric"? What would ethnicity have to do with it? | |
