Gifu, Japan Canada sent two more crews to the finals at the world rowing championships Thursday as both the men's four and pair advanced.

The men's four Andrew Ireland of Hamilton, Rob Weitemeyer of Coquitlam, B.C., Peter Dembicki of West Vancouver, and Kristopher (Kip) McDaniel of Cobble Hill, B.C. was second to Britain (five minutes 45.46 seconds) in their semifinal in 5:46.72. Denmark was in third in 5:47.80. The top three boats move to the medal rounds.

Chris Jarvis of St. Catharines, Ont., and Malcolm Howard of Victoria moved on by finishing third in the pairs' semifinal in 6:16.60. Olympic bronze medallists Ramon DiClemente and Donovan Cech of South Africa were first in 6:14.50, ahead of Croatia's Skelin brothers, runners-up at the 2004 Olympics, in 6:16.30.

Five of Canada's six entries will row in the finals on the weekend. The only crew missing is the men's eight, which failed to make the final."

I think I heard on the radio that the men's 8 came in 4th in the rep. Doh!
