Who the hell would want to be coached by Matt and Matt, neither of them could make in flatwater, and as we can see they can't do it in dragon boat either! |

Are you kidding me?
Matt Robert has had incredible success with the Wong's team. They didn't win a 2006 CCWC sanction, sure, but they have won a lot of other races and have been one of the best dragon boat clubs in eastern canada for the last 5 years. And his women's team program has also been highly successful. Too bad for them that they had to constantly face the GTDBC/MCC powerhouse that has represented us so well at the World Championships. You could even say that they (the Montreal girls) helped to keep our national team strong by keeping them on their toes.
The other Matt has also done very well with Verdun. Not as strong a crew as Wong's, but they're always a threat and always in contention.
Man, some people are such assholes. |

| Cowards!!! | November 15 2005, 2:17 PM |
Isn`t it always the cowards that make such statements???
If you have a problem with either Matt then have the descency to confront them and not post here. But of course from the sanctity of your little hole you can post safely and anonymously. I can almost picture you rubbing your little hands together in pathetic glee.
I have spent the last 9 years in d-boat. I have been coached by both Matt`s, and each has brought their own unique style and approach to it. I have learned from both and I consider it a priviledge.
Matt R was the coach of my team (Slayers) and he took a bunch of nobodies and turned us into racers who not only won a berth to the Rome Worlds but won a bronze medal there. Where were you and your coaching staff you wanker?
And this year not only did we have another amazing year but came in second to teams like Scotia, Mayfair and G&G
One look at the caliber of paddlers on those crews and any reasonable person would have to give credit to 22dragons for their success.
MTL is a small community of mostly rec paddlers. We have no depth here and a small community of flatties who keep to their own sport for the most part. Still, MTL paddlers under the leadership and coaching of the Matts and a few others have become a force to be reconned with.
This is my opinion, but is seconded by the national team coaches who recruited 8 MTL paddlers from the Wongs and Verdun to fill out their own rosters, in the women`s, men`s primier, and senior levels.
People like you who bring nothing and sacrifice less for this sport are the first ones to bitch and moan about how everyone else is to blame for there troubles and their lack of acheivement.
I will not be returning to d-boat next season for personal reasons, but I continue to support and be grateful not only to the Matts but the WET, the Men`s, Verdun the Wongs and any and all paddlers who have the balls to quit whinning and do what it takes to become better. They have given me an incredible experience that I will cherish al my life.
So, piss off!!!

"You could even say that they (the Montreal girls) helped to keep our national team strong by keeping them on their toes."
And THAT is what competition is all about. I wish people could just see competition that way. |

get real, you don't think Matt and Matt haven't done enough share of anonymous slagging on this forum. When has one nasty comment slandering companies, organizations and individuals ever been signed on this forum. What goes around comes around as far as I can see, this forum is a free for all and anything can be posted with absolutely no facts to back them up, or any accountability for the allegations made.
folks go on this forum to be entertained, let's face it we used to find feeding christians to the lions entertaining, or watching public hangings and drawing and quarterings for a family day out.
don't go all serious on us now.... |

If you're from Montreal, and think that you're too good for a team like the Wongs and their coaches... well... I think its time to leave the province for its clear you wont find any other team in Quebec that has a better standing. |

I have no problem making fun of Matt S's bald shiny head (whitest man alive), Matt R's scrawny chest and arms etc. but posting nonsense about their acheivements and abilities as coaches is out of line and deserves to be taken seriously. It is personal and unwaranted.
Now back to my chips...God obesity is fun:))) |

What the hell. I've been away from the forum too long. Who is the idiot slamming the Matt's. I bet that person is nowhere near the coach both the Matt's are. I had the pleasure of being one of Matt R's athletes for a week in Florida. He taught me more in a week that I usualy learn in a year. He made every practice challenging, fun , and informative. Matt is a true pro when it comes to coaching, there is just something about his communication skills that makes everyone listen and feel good about themselves. I've requested to be in his boat again this year.
