SRS DB QUESTIONJuly 27 2007 at 1:31 AM | Thomas |
| - Can any one tell me where the center of gravity is on an empty SRS boat, please no guesses, I will be using the results to try to make accurate calculations. Generally on a BUK the COG is 5 inches behind seat 5. Are these two boats of similar demensions?
Please help. |

Contact Karen Lukanovich at SRS. They should know this |

Wouldn't the center of gravity change depending on the crew composition?

it depends on whether the broken seats are in the front, middle or back.

Just wondering, what calculation are you doing? |
|
Mmmmmmmmm good
| SRS COG | July 27 2007, 5:25 PM |
Also depends on how many screws have been used to shore up broken seats, and whether the seats were re-attached at the designated spot, or whether the seats were shifted forward or back. Often necessary after 4th or 5th similar repair into the same holes.
Really - not joking - if precise COG is required, then you are kidding yourself in the case of the SRS boat. It will vary considerably from boat to boat. |

"Generally on a BUK the COG is 5 inches behind seat 5."
Generally on a BUK you'll be lucky if it takes less than a minute to empty the water that's filled up the ballast tanks at the front and rear. If you're using this because you're trying to balance the boat perfectly front-to-back, you're crazy because in a racing situation that "empty boat balance point" could move forwards or backwards by a seat or more. |

If you are worried about balance point in an empty dragon boat...
I'd worry more about paddling. |
