A nice article about Adam van Koeverden in today's Toronto Star.

http://www.thestar.com/Sports/article/248200

"When Olympic kayaking champion Adam van Koeverden showed up at the recent world championships with the Right To Play logo splashed all over his shiny new boat, everybody figured he was cashing in on a big sponsorship with an online gambling service.

But this was a goodwill gesture borne from the Oakville paddler's desire to boost a good cause, not his bank account.

Right To Play is a Toronto-based humanitarian group which uses sport to help improve the lives of children in the most disadvantaged parts of the world."

It also mentions the Mazda 200m races at Marilyn Bell park in September.

Wasn't "right to Play" started by Clara Hughes? Or was she just one of the first spokespeople for it?

Right to play

August 21 2007, 1:38 PM

Started/inpired by a Norwegian - Johann Olav Koss (4 time olympic gold medalist - speed skating?)

Athlete Ambassadors include: "Wayne Gretzky, Martina Hingis, Dikembe Mutombo, Haile Gebrselassie, Michael Essien, Frank Lampard, Anja Pärson, Chelsea Football Club and many more"

Cool organization. Nice to see someone try to help the kids before they get all screwed up.
