Haven't they been using the name for a few races? Are they permanently short-staffed? Why the problem attracting paddlers? Coach change? Captain change? Just a cyclical phenomenon?

Sounds like some veteran Blades are in denial about the current state of the team. At some point you have to accept who you are and let go of who you used to be. Using this pseudonym seems like a kick in the pants to the people filling out their roster.
