I think they did pretty well this year. They have 4 teams, but 1 of them is outstanding "LST 1". They only started paddling 3 years ago and I heard half of the LST 1 is new (first time paddling 2007). They look pretty small also, I don't think any of them are over 23 years old, just assuming.
They are ranked 95th in Canada, 24th in Montreal. I think they only participate into MTL festival and not doing other Festival. With -11.1s from last year, they must be pretty good.
I took a look from their webpage (http://www.welovelst.com) and it looks like they jumped from Intermediate Final F (2006) to Premier Final D challenging closely Phoenix ETS. That's pretty amazing.
Weird thing is that not only they looks small, but I heard they don't train all year long, but only from May to end of MTL Festival.
Do you think they would do even better in 2008? Is that something we should be watching the next few years? Their best time is 2:10.25 finished 3rd (after Philadelphia Mixted A and Wongs Dragonslayers). That would be scared to see one day Fushia owning.. haha
sorry i amde an error: its not PHoenix ETS, but Phoenix Warriors CAE. heh? LST 1 in better division than Phoenix ETS?

Great job LST!
You've discovered the beauty of washriding at the olympic basin.

i dont think they washrided. if my memory is good, philadelphia was just beside them and was ahead of everyone of a lot... and giving waves to LST as well as to other teams. To wash ride, you have to be closed, which is not the case for that race

Good community team, lots of fit people (athletes in other sports) but yeah they won't be ever contending until they improve their technique (basically macau style, lots of dipping and little else) (they actually train alot, 3 practices a week (2 hours + an hour of cardio beforehand for LST 1). They have the advantage of being light and young. LST 1 actually doesn't even have all the best paddlers from the club. They could be improved by actually making a roster based on talent alone.
But yeah they'll improve a bit more, but I think they've hit their pinnacle unless changes are made.

So is this what it has come to? Someone starts a thread about their own team, and then generates shameless, self-promoting buzz by having people post their opinions? Like I've just done?
Boy, am I an *******. Much like the guy who started this pointless thread.
I just happened to randomly search on the true rankings and the name LST (http://www.welovelst.com/) popped out at me, due to their amazing jump in performance! How could I, a native of Montreal (with no affiliation with Let's Sink Together (http://www.welovelst.com/)) not notice them before! This team http://www.welovelst.com/ (oops, LST), really got my attention and I believe that they will shortly surpass Verdun (http://www.welovelst.com/)!!1!1!

Hey October 29 2007, 10:10 PM,
Wow. I wrote out this whole witty reply, and then you know what? I just deleted it. This is the lamest thread I think I've wasted time on in months. Really, it's like a boring party. Know why? Because nobody cares. I'M the most interesting thing here.
Ok, well, you go sink together. Good luck. And you can sing your little LST song on the way to the bottom. Have fun, now.

My question would be, how, with 4 teams to pull from, didn't LST do better?
That's 4 times the talent pool of most teams and they barely made the top 100???
Ouch!

As for as I know, only 20 paddlers have paddled for more than 2 years. 75% never paddled before 2007. And not all the 20 paddlers are in LST 1. I know LST has paddlers studying in sec4-5 (high school!!) Anywayz, we will see how they'd do in 2008.

You have to start somewhere and LST is showing that they are making a major move up in the rankings.
Great analysis by whoever put it together.

The best 250 teams in Canada ????
looks like Canada ends at Ottawa
If memory serves me teams like the Gorging Dragons and FCRCC are probably rated within the top 5 best teams in Canada conspicious by there absence in the ratings

I dont know who you are talking about. This is about LST and the amazing season and rise they had in the rankings this year. I wonder if they can continue to improve themselves next year. I am sure many teams are concerned about facing them as a low seed in the first heat next year.

"looks like Canada ends at Ottawa"
Which direction are you going? You might want to include either Montreal or Toronto?

Ottawa is between Toronto and Montreal. But I do sympathize with you - there are no true Canada-wide rankings. That would be difficult to do beyond the obvious very top tier teams (like Gorging or FCRCC). How could you possibly compare a comp B team out of Vancouver with a similar team racing only in Ontario or Nova Scotia? If they never race in the same festivals, matching these teams would be relatively meaningless.

LST sucks big time.
There are at least 30 teams that are faster in the Montreal region.
There are a couple of hot little Asian chicks however!

You really should read before you post:
"They are ranked 95th in Canada, 24th in Montreal."
They didn't get that the ranking isn't Canadian, but they did confirm there are only 23 teams in Montreal ranked faster.
