Cutting a carbon shaft?

I have a carbon paddle that is a little bit too long for me. I need to cut it down about 2 inches. Could someone tell me the best way to cut the carbon shaft? Is there special tools required?

I thought about a table saw, but I'm worried that the carbon would shatter instead of cut. Any help is appreciated.

Fine-toothed metal saw works a treat and leaves little chance of splintering.

I've used a dollar store mini hacksaw that I bought for less than $5 plus some electric tape along the area that I wanted to cut on a canoe blade. Maybe draw a line on the tape if you need a guide. Should be pretty easy.

main thing is rotate paddle while cutting to avoid any splintering of carbon.

Cutting is half the battle. You can use a ceramic blade in a chop saw. How are you going to re-glue the handle? Make sure you use epoxy. If you in the GTA and bought the paddle from GWN (a Jet or an Accelerator) they will re-size it for free. At least they did for me.

I'm not too worried about re-glueing the handle. That's the easy part.

Sounds like I'll be taking my hacksaw to the shaft.

btw.......how much would a ceramic blade be? I'm guessing that it might be a little too expensive for this task.
