Mom has cardiomyopathy

by (no login)

Hello everyone. My name is Jesse. I am 11 years old. My Mom has cardiomyopathy. I live in Florida. I don't feel good about my Mom having a heart transplant. She is not going to have a heart transplant yet and I hope she is not going to.My Mom has a ICD and pacemaker. I hope she doesn't ever have to have it go off. I was gone at my Dad's in New Hampshire when my Mom had a cardiac arrest. When I was gone at my Dad's my Mom was in a coma for three days and she stayed in the hospital for three weeks. When I heard about her having a cardic arrest I was shocked. My Dad first told me she had a heart attack. I like that she is home now more because we can spend time together instead of me staying at school until 5 o'clock. I don't like the fact my Mom has to go inside more often because she gets tired out. I don't like it because she can't drive yet but she will be able to drive in December. I pray for everbody and your family and if you have it I pray for you. Jesse

i have cardiomyopathy

by (no login)

hi, im samantha, im 15, and my mom has been posting on the other site for awhile. Everything will be ok, I was diagnosed with my disease in december, and like your mom i have a pacemaker and icd, these protect you if your heart is not doing what it should be, so just remember that, your mom has back-up in case she gets into some trouble. If you have more questions about the disease, or what someone goes through while having it, i'll be glad to help. --samantha

My name is Michael
I'm 16 and live in Australia. I contracted Endocarditis and had to have a Mitral Valve Replacement 3 days later that was back in 1998 I want to talk or email other teens who understand about INR and all the things I can't do and how it feels...I've been looking everywhere but I can't find anyone every time I go into the chat room here because of the time difference it's empty ....maybe it would be better to email someone ?

Thanks
Michael

Heart Transplant

by (no login)

Hi Natascha My name is Jesse. I posted tonight and read your post and wanted to e-mail you. I am not a teenager I am only 11. I thought it was scary. My Mom has cardiomyophy and she had a cardic arrest. How do you feel about having a heart transplant? Are you scared? What is your Enjection Fraction? Where are you going to have your transplant? I know it is scary but they do them a lot now. Does it make you feel different from all the other kids? Do kids not want to be your friend because you have CHF? I pray that you get better. Jesse

Prayers

by (no login)

I know this is a tragic time and this board is here for support and I want every one to know that no matter who the person is they also need support and that we should all love each other at this time and try not to fight and for all you adults hiding this from your kids will only scare them more you should talk about it with them and let them know that every thing is going to be ok. Tell them that you love them and no matter what happens you will always be there either in body or sprit of mind. They need to know that they have your support.

Love hugs and prayers,
Mary

To Mary & all..

by (no login)

Mary,

Thanks for your thoughtful message...was surprised to learn from your Mom about problems and emergencies in your area. We are closer to NYC, but here in our town things are relatively quiet. Rest assured, though, that all is being done to ensure the safety of our young people. Prayers for you and your friends...Hugs, Lee

Good Luck!!! Wonderful Idea!

by (no login)

Hi Mary,

Wanted to say Hi and wish you good luck with your forum--I think it is really a great idea and will put up a link at my site, if you would like me to.

I'm sure parents can be a trial sometimes...believe it or not, I do remember being young...at least I think I do! LOL

One thing that all should remember is that the treatments are getting better and that there is a lot of research in this area, but what you are doing is from the heart...I'm sure you will help a lot of folks! Best wishes....and hugs, Lee
