I actually heard this fallicy come straight out of a teachers mouth.

While we lived in Colorado my daughter was in 4th grade at the time. Anyway, they were studying early United States History (we live in Virginia) well, this teacher had Pocohantas marrying Capt. John Smith and moving out to the California gold rush!!!

My daughter was very upset at this, knew it was incorrect. I went to the school, to make sure that this is indeed what she said. Sure enough.

I could hardly beleive my ears. I made her repeat this. Then I had to sit her down and give her a breif overview of this era of history. With of course documentation from the school's own library.
