Response to HELP!!!...Waiver for Immunizations... |
| At this age your child is not getting first round jabs, but boosters. So you can request (demand?) that your dr. test the titres for measles, mumps, rubella, etc. to see if your boy already has adequate coverage. If he does show adequate immunity, then you do not need the boosters, and you dr. can send a note stating such.
Also, each state has a different set of required jabs (I think CA requires the most). Dana has a link on her site that lets you see what your state requires and what your state calls suggested but optional. You should not need a waiver for any optional jab.
Finally, all states allow for religious exemption, and many for philosophical exemption. Use this if you need to.
I would just like to say now that this is a very delicate situation, and you need to talk to your dr. about it before you act. Do not let the extremes of either side dictate what you do. The vaccination program has prevented alot of disease, and it has also damaged a lot of children. There is no easy answer here, both sides have risks. Please try to make as informed a decision as possible.
Good luck to you, and please let us know how things turn out. | |
