Personally I loved the echolalia. Beside the fact that Ryan was so cute, I used it to increase his speech and keep that tongue working so he could make every sound available, blends, complex sentences etc. I also used it as a measure of receptive language by asking questions using a choice, then reversing the choice to see if he was 1. listening, 2. strictly echoing 3. making a real live choice. Ryan's language sort of exploded in leaps, would level out for a bit, then jump again. During the leveling out I would push him by giving him full sentences that he had to repeat to get what he was asking for. Bribe? Darn straight but it kept him moving forward. Thank for sharing, I just love these stories.
