It is because of all the lawsuits that parents were filing that the govt.set up VAERs, not the other way. What we saw in the mid 80's was either some particularly nasty batches of jabs (prob. DPT) or else we had reached that point of balance between a total jab schedule which was only very mildly dangerous and one which was beginning to be very dangerous. Remember too that it wasn't until the 90's that parents connected autism with jabs, so these we more typical cases of damage, MR, contracted illnesses and deaths, not the more subtle forms that we now are shouting about.
I have heard some people speculate that the DPT damages each and every one of us, that it causes retardation in 100% of the population. Would go along way to explaining what in the Sam Hill is wrong with all those generation Xers, no? Why xan't teachers teach any more? Why can't students stay on task? Why are there 8 million kids being treated with ritalin for attention problems, when way back in the 70's I can't recall anyone who had symptoms like the kids I see today. My oldest daughter says she knows dozens of kids (mostly boys) taking Vitamin R at her high school, and now the reports are trickling out how this dope we push on our children to make them palatable causes the same type of cardio-stress that any speed addiction can. Look how well Johnny sits still, never mind he's headed for a heart attack at 16.
It is a sick sad world, and when the floodgates of litigation begin to crack the torrent is going to make the breast implant and tobacco litigations look like penny-ante poker. Afterall, there is a HUGE difference between elective surgery done for vanity (implants), a voluntary action committed by foolish persons (smoking) and the systematic destruction of human life whether death, maiming or simply the gross reduction in quality upon every single baby born in this country.
I understand that Merck is currently working on vaccines to protect children from child abuse and mini-vans accidents, both of which kill more babies in this country every year than measles or whooping cough ever could.
On the otherhand, how many of us will NOT get the small pox injection once it s ready?
