You can't give up! You have to read and study and see what may or may not apply to your child and try it, whole heartidly.
If you don't get support from your doctor - find another one who is at least willing to help.
You also have to remember that insurance is no longer. It is HMO, the docs get paid NOT to try different treatments. So, of coarse they are going to tell you that nothing will work, otherwise they loose money.
HMO's are the worst thing that has happened to the insurance industry.
Personally, I'ld tell the doc "bullshit, I'm going to try this. Give me your support." and if he/she doesn't like it. Tough nookie. go elsewhere. You live in a big city with more avenues available to you than I have out here in the country.
