| hi,
wanting to share this about jasper.
when we were gone to the shelter, to be there while we looked for a place tolive, jasper and rain dogs stayed at someone's house, about 1 1/2 hours drive away from the city where we were in... which was about a 8-10 hours drive away from where we had come from-kingston.
and so, jpasper was brought there, and was to stay there until we found a home. he barked the 1st 4 days. on the 4th day, they decided to let him loose, to let him 'play'. he took off. the neighbourhood sighted jasper a few times per day for the next two days/. he woudl always duck back into the bushes when he noticed that he was spotted. andnoone was able to catch him. he was on the move. on a mission. he took off. then, 5 days later, a call came to the shelter from a woman i knew in kingston. she said she knew where jasper was!. he had travelled from here, to peterborough, about 3 hours drive away from kingston, where we used to live, he was more then 2/3 of the way back there!. over several hundred KM's. he had traversed, down a different highway, but towards the same city, where we came from... how? who knows, he must have an internal compass... but he was determined to find us again... and so eventually he got back to where he was from, the country property where he was to wait for us to get a home.... even how he got there was a miracle.. he had finally gotten so hungry that he had walked into a hunting/tourist camp.... right into the kithcen... they had fed him, and caught him.. .and read his dog tags, our old vets # and called there. that vet knew we had moved to sudbury, but had an emergency contact number. that was mine ex-partners work. she didnt work there anymore. but mine friend anne-s mom worked there, and so she happened to asnwer the call, from the vet and had known allready that jasper was missing, and the vet was able to tell her where he was,and so anne called us,and we called this place, well, it still turns out, that this particular tourist lodge owner, where jasper was, knew a tourist lodge owner close to where jasper was supposed to be, and he drove jasper there... about 4-5 hours drive!... and that lodge owner, where jasper ended up, happened to be a cousin of the husband of the woman i gave jasper to be looked after...
what a story eh?
jasper happened to come to our life also at a unusual way.
we happed to know about these abused puppy mill samoyed puppies that showed up at the humane society, and we wanted the pup, and then they decided that it was too dangerous for these dogs to remain in kingston, so they wouldnt let us have one, and so they said, there was a dog cathcer who had jasper, a samoyed who was almost 2 and was needing a home, the owner was moving to usa and didnt want to bring all these dogs down there.... so, we went and got jasper.. he was tied up all day over there to a leach attached to a tie in on the wall in the garage..... that is where she kept jasper, all the dogs she took home from the pound were tied up like that on different walls throughout her house...
and so we rescued jasper from the dog cathcers house...
