Well, folks? You may not believe this, but my Troy may not have autism. For those of you who have followed Troy's ups and downs these last several years, you won't believe it. He looks and acts as autism as autism gets.
We got the lab results back on his metals. The first one they messed up on, but it was 2.1 with the ref <3. Only this was based on half the dosage of the chelation agent that we used.
The second metals tested for everything. Everything we got back. (practically)
Aluminum 25 ref < 35 Antimony .1 ref < 5
Arsenic 14 < 100 Beryllium <dl <.5
Bismuth .3 < 30 Cadmium .4 < 2
Lead 130 < 15 Mercury .6 < 3
Nickel 5.2 < 12 Platinum <dl < 2

Uranium <dl < 1
Our doctor said that technically, even though there is a reference range for metals, there really shouldn't be any of these metals present in your body.
A blood test to check metals was ordered. Evidently they are more specific than the urine test. The mercury is low on this one. It was higher on the previous one. But it tends to "hide" in the organs and only comes out a little at a time. So it isn't a strong indicator of how much is truly present.
The lead is scary. It freaked out both of our doctors. >69 is considered severe lead poisoning. Troy's is 130, which is nearly double that amount. >100 is considered acute lead poisoning and requires hospitalization until the lead is chelated.
So Troy had the blood test today. We should get the results back within a few days. Do you think this is why the typical "autism" interventions do not seem to work as well for Troy? His other lab tests have been so inconsistent with everyone else's that it has driven me crazy. ie The doctor had a urine screening for gluten and cassein peptide tests. Troy was in normal range. So he order a blood test for celiac disease to double check. It came back normal.
I don't get to spend much time on the net anymore. I'm working to help pay for all these lab tests that insurance isn't covering. But I make rounds on the boards and check my emails in quick sweeps.
