Sorry about abreviations. TAG= Talented And Gifted,
OT= occupational therapy, ESY= Extended School Year(summer school) and OMG=excited gramma saying Oh My God!!
I am excited for you. Thomas's handwriting is bad too and I cannot imagine, but always can hope for, him volunteering to practice. That is wonderful, very indepent of him. Hooray Mika!! Probably not the enzymes yet, but will look forward to hearing improvements from those little wonder pills.
We were mostly sre Ryan could read before he could talk but it was hard to tell as he would space out so much. He had no words at all until 3 1/2 and then mostly just nouns(food words when he was hungry). He flips the pages so fast, we thought, surely he is just looking at pictures but he really does read incredibly fast, no hesitation at all. It is kind of like a nonverbal child that can sing words. when he talks, he sounds like he is 2-3 years old but when he reads out loud, he sound almost normal. Also, we would buy him a new computer game(which at 3 he would load himself) and we could not help him learn how to play. He would flip thru it so fast and pause during instructions but didn't think he could read like that at all, but apparently he could. He is a little computer wizard. Mom had to get a locking cabinet because she tried to take the computer away from him as a punishment when he was 4 and he snuck back in and threw her work accounting program in the trash. I tried hiding his Traintown game in various folders and he always found them.
The TAG(gifted) group is an extra program that he would get pulled out of class for unless he has a fit and they bring the program to him. ESY or summer school in the states is very hard to get your kid into. The schools will do darn near anything to keep from paying any extra on your child. It is why parents go to court so often. And yes, it is about regression, but also about the law, when you alter their routines so much like that. Christmas break is bad enough, I have to really work to add extra structure as it is just too long without it.
Thanks for the kind words. You are right, it has ben a good day, first jasper, then Mika and now Ryan. whew! That's a ton 'o good in one day!
