| Regarding tax breaks: if you donate your money to a charity, you give them away, and in your case it's a true donation. In his case, it's an investment, and he expects return, i.e. profit on them. Having financial interest (shares) in pharmaceutical companies, he sets up an arrangement that would allow them expand their market and sales, and thus raise their profits, which are the source of shareholder's income. He doesn't just "give it away" and clearly has other considerations than to just do the right thing.
Why the magazine so heavily stressed the issue of Gates "educating himself on vaccines"? Did he educate himself as much on other issues of health and wellness (prenatal and neonatal care, non-infectious diseases, nutrition etc?) Why everything in his charity revolves around vaccines??
<<He just does his job and expects everyone else to do it as well.>> Not quite. He sets the rules of the game according to HIS interests and forces everyone to play it to HIS benefit, even if it against others' interests. Social niceties?
Also, I wonder about Gates, Jr.'s immunization record...does the richest family in the world truly practice what it preaches? | |
