About the writing. Your difficulty is also helping your children. They are seeing the truth, that adults don't know everything. They will be watching you and seeing how you cope with problems and will learn that even though things are hard, there is always a way around it. You are showing them that they just have to find that way. I would not even ask the teacher. I would tell the boy that I would really, really like to do the comments, but my computer work is good and my writing is not so good, so I would like to word process it and paste it in. Leave the decision up to him. BTW I have extreme difficulty with punctuation and its really good for children to see how I manage that. They learn a lot from watching me work through my mistakes. Same with social skills. People wonder how a person with difficulty with social skills can teach. Well, the reality is I am very good at teaching social skills because I am so explicit after having learned a lot myself. I don't take it for granted that children will just understand. It will be the same for you. I think that having an AS parent who makes a big effort is the best parent an AS kid can have. And if there are things that you can't do and need help with, well all parents have that. Its just that a lot don't admit it.
skating - aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!! learn by walking on the carpet. and then hanging on to side and marching not gliding. good idea to go to a few sunday morning sessions when hardly anyone is around and just clomp about until you get your balance. |
