| anywhere.
or tape. or "man made" in original work.
traditional.
it was sewn together with sinew.
now it is nylon thread for basket.
but all quills are put together
by weaving the ends under the bark.
in a 3 inch box the flower (with two small leaves)
was 6 hours of weaving.
very time consuming.
the quills are small, thin, a awl (little "poker")
needs to be used to make the hole for each end of quill to go through the bark.
for each one.
there are hundereds of quills in just a small flower.
those boxes where the sides are quills also, propably are dozens of hours of work.
mine box, was a total of 12 hours at the workshop, and another 3 hours at home.
for a small "semi-fancy" (where on the sides there is only small quill designs, and the top is not totally quills only the flower is) box this is average amount of time taken. 12-15 hours.
the man doing the workshop, said he did a large (size of a plate) box, with quills all around, took him 3 weeks, every day, 6 hour days.
it sold for $1000.
but that is for boxes with each quill sized similarly, very few people can make boxes that nice.
