| homeschool?
it is a possibility. although lg better get really busy learning about grade 7 curriculum... (and cant teach math... that is not a good combo eh?) everyhting else can t4each.but mine math is about grade 4 level.and cannot understand any more of it then that. have tried.
change school?
cant do that. the schools are according to the district (area) one lives in.
the kids were in the public school in this district in the fall. there were several problems.
1) the school had a library with less books then we have at home.
2) there were 2 computers for the whole school (280 kids) to use ONLY during their free time (recess or lunch) IF they chose to.(taking turns, each class got a turn for 2 weeks, therefore each child in the classes got ONE recess time to use a computer for the whole year! ridiculus!) there was no computer instruction at all.
3) son needed an IEP, and they denied him the possibility to even get one, saying his assessments were from another school board and therefore not valid. (here at the catholic school as soon as showed them the assessment, they agreed immediately to set up an IEP =implementing is another battle though).
and finally the thing that made us leave that school:
4) son's teacher was the same way as this supply teacher is now, verbally abusive. (what is it with all these men?? who teach these kids, that was a man too, only man teachers he ever has had, and both are abusive). this old teacher said to son "if you cant read, why dont you learn how to read" in the classroom when he said he couldnt see the boad, although there was notes sent to school tellin him to move son to the front sohe can see... he taunted son about his disabilities.
dont know if being out in the country has anything to do with this... these abusive teachers... maybe the good ones go to better schools, bigger ones, with better resourccse,, and these schoools get the rejectes, that are left over.. ?
a child is allowed to go to another district for education, only IF the school has room, and IF the parent will bring the kid there themselves. that is the problme that is the biggst in changing any other place.
cannto bring them, and the busses will not get them out of district.
