they started to...

swim!

both of them.
mika caught on so fast.
last yr he was ok with water, wanted to be in it etc.
but never knew how to swim.
this spring yet, no swimming, except for 3-6 feet worth of it.
now this week it happened.
he swims about 200-250 feet... without a problem, breast-stroke even.. not the "doggy paddle"... and he started diving in the water, head first! (yes its deep enough where he does it )
today he went on a large tube... standing up! as it was being pulled behind a boat... (there are vacationers here on the property from south with their big boats, etc. etc.)

and then michelle... she is the child who until now has had to have several dry washcloths just to wash her hair. as soon as the one covering her face gets wet, she needs a new one.. screams in a panic "its wet, the face is wet!"
in the lake she has been like a little baby monkey clinging on to mine neck, curled up in fetal position with her knees bent up under mine arm pits... squealing and squinting her face, sputtering air out of her mouth in anticipation of water on her face...
this was still last week...
BUT... for some reason... it happened this weekend..
she came out on a floating dock with a life preserver on... she got ON the floating dock.. this is huge for her... before the digestive enzymes she never had the balance to be on anything close to being unstable/moving...
then she got in the water, but was still clinging on...
but today.. for some reason because she saw other kids (those vacationners) in the sauna putting their heads in buckets of water, and counting how many second they can stay under water she tried it!
she stuck her head (up to her ears) and sputtered and sputtered air out of her mouth... was gasping for breath for a minute after trying to go under for about 5 seconds...
after that she decided to actually slide down the slide on the dock... as long as was at the bottom of the slide catching her... but then... she slipped... (because she was not really sliding, she was holing on to the sides and gradually letting herself down lol) she slipped and truly slid... some water splashed on her face... and she gasped... but then laughed!
and tried it again...
by the end of the day, she actually swims about 5 feet length on her own...
and she swims that length with her face under water!
she IS SO EXCITED!!
she was in the water ALL day... they finally came inside at 10PM!!
and that is only because it got dark enough that it was 'scary' lol
(now if she becomes not afraid of the dark, they wont ever want to get out of the lake!!)
