but technically it is true, it does teach kids to lie but do't we do that anyway and isn't it a necessity?
>why is it a necessity?
why didnt someone tell mineself it is a necessity to lie?
how does one know when one is supposed to lie then?
and about what?
We certainly don't want to tell someone we think their new baby is ugly.
> well, if one DID want to tell someone their new baby was ugly, why would they not tell it?
BUT personally, am not sure that anyones baby actually is ugly... perhaps their physical characteristics is ugly, but would it just be as ok to tell them something else about their new baby? like the kids curlyhair being cute, or the depth in their eyes, (all babies have that), or the length of their fingers, or make comments about the silky smoothness of their skin.. some nice things, if the kid happens tobe ugly...
Nor do we want to say someone's new dress looks terrible on them.
> really?
but what if their new dress does look terrible on them? and what if they ask you what it looks like on them.. but sometimes people will ask, "do you like this new dress?", in which case, if am not liking it, will just tell them... they asked... but sometimes will also say, "what does it matter what mine opinion of that dress is?", "what do you think? do you like it?".. because isnt it the reason they bought it? because theyliked it, not wether mineself likes it... and if they bought it because they thought mineself would like it, that would be very illogical... it isnt mineself that wil be wearing that dress....
They bought it because they liked it and liked how it looked on them.
> right. so isnt that enough reason for them to wear it? that they liked it... who cares what anyone else thinks about the dress...
The clerk at the store that says "How are you today" and I say "fine" when I really am in a foul mood or sick.
> if the clerk at the stores asks mineself how am, will tell her/him... will tell exactly how am.. after all they asked.. do they not want to know then? is that what this is supposed to mean? is that clerk then lying? how does one know then when they are lying or meaning it? and what about anyone else then who says "how are you?"... how does one know if they are lying then... this is worrisome...am confused... am not understanding why one would say "fine" if they are not fine.... please explain more...
Hmmmm, lies in the name of common courtesy I guess.
> lies can be a courtesy?
aaacckkk!!!
then HOW DOES ONE KNOW WHICH LIES ARE COMMON COURTESY??!!
please help explain. this IS worrisome.
this will send the whole world in turmoil.
how can anyone ever know if anyone is teling the truth, or being "common courtesy"... AND worse... how will lilghostie know when is the time to lie to be commonly courteous... and what about the lies... how will lilghostie know what kinds of lies to come up with? like the one with the clerk in the store... for example... does one need to always lie and say "fine" as common courtesy, or will it be just as ok to lie and say "horible" when one is not horrible, is that just as much of a common courtesy...
oohh boy, life has WAY TOO MANY RULES to try to figure out.
