<<Cabot High School officials had barred Ashley from classes during the 2001-2002 school year because she refused to be vaccinated against hepatitis B, a sexually transmitted disease.>>
1. Since when schools concern themselves with vaccinating against sexually transmitted diseases?? Are students supposed to routinely have sex at schools; is it part of an education process?? Schools are not brothels (or at least are not supposed to be). What next in this logical sequence - students will be required to carry condoms in order to be allowed to attend schools?? Doesn't make any sense.
2. HepB is NOT an airborne disease and isn't easily transmitted; even an infected person cannot cause an outbreak by simply sitting in the same classroom with others. I'd understand schools demanding vaccinations against measles, but this one??
3. What about the girl's civil right to education?? | |
