Response to Im not sure i agree.... |
| people see what they want to see or can comprehend, leaving beyond the rest of the message.
Example: i've personally witnessed reaction of my MiddleEastern neighbors' family to the movie "Shindler's List". The movie was intended to send a strong (and obvious to me) anti-fascist message against killing innocent people just for their ethnic background, but i saw my neighbors cheering and clapping because "in this movie Germans kill Jews". They got their message which had nothing to do with Spilberg's intent. I'm not making it up, i did witness this situation in person.
Also, i'm disgusted at portraying and labeling a child murderer "an extraordinary young man" etc. Whatever is the plot they are trying to concoct, a murderer is a murderer. Just couple days ago here, in San Diego, a teenage boy was sentenced for school shooting he committed in response to being bullied, that left two dead and several wounded. Nobody calls him "an extraordinary young man" or else, they call him a criminal, even though he was also driven by strong emotional feelings. So, is it ok to kill an autistic child, but not ok to kill "normal" high schoolers? Not ok to kill out of frustration and hurt, but ok to kill out of "compassion"??
Any and all killings are wrong. Glamorizing murderers is wrong as well. I don't know which one is worse. Even one copycat would be unforgivably many.
