well.....ya gotta hang in there......Iv'e been meaning to check out these forums for a long while now but got sidetracked...I do think this might be a better place to discuss feelings and experiances than an actual support group meeting..... the ones in our area here in New Jersey were somehat disorganized and difficult to corral. We'd have 30 people in a group and it seems the same 30 people never showed up and the same time every week...and everyone was at such different stages....we'd have red eyed shellshocked parents of newly diagnosed toddlers sobbing into their Kleenex and desparealy insisting they Has to be a cure sitting next violently militant parents pushing for massive class action vaccination suits to aging adults who were eager to discuss estate planning and group homes.People whose kids with high functioning Aspergers were looked on with distain by the parents of Kanner kids.{"Why are YOU here? your kid can TALK!!!!!"}and for some odd reason the moderators we got were always male- and unmarried. I think moderators should at least be married with kids.....ours asked me once how I was doing and I told him after a particularly grueling day I went down to the cellar and started stuffing socks in my mouth and screaming......he said "well....whatever floats yer boat. Takes all kinds." I coulda stuffed a sock in HIM.

Anyway Im sure you all have had similar stories to tell.......our situation always reminds me of the title of that movie "The Situation Is Hopeless...But Not Serious.."

Yes Alex is autistic..and yes it looks like he'll always need supervision...but he's oddly capbable on so many unexpected levels we can enjoy a halfways normal life...and for that I'm grateful. Sorry if I've run on here...I wasnt sure how to start...
