but it was the schools responsibility to train her so that she would know what to do in these type of situations... so the one responsible is the school.

Does your sons IEP have a behavioral plan? Since 1997 all children's whose disability is behavioral in nature are required to have a behavorial plan as part of the IEP. Its the law.
Have they done a functional behavioral analysis to find out what is causing the behavior? Another thing that should be done....

Is your child verbal? What kind of class is he in? Inclusion, special education only, mixed? What type of intervention do they provide ?

I am mom to Daniel 9, non verbal, and Gerald 14 ... and i too have to deal with a school district that has never done anything appropriate without a fight.
