But if she talks to the school, they will just fire the aide and pretend that the aide was acting on her own to cover themselves. That's what they do. They act sympathetic towards them until they get too big for their britches. (this is when they develop attitudes and become openly judgemental and hostile) Then, they use them to harrass the parents. If in the rare instances they get caught (like this time, perhaps) they try to separate themselves from the situation and all the sudden you discover that they knew the laws and consequences, after all.
The problem is that everyone loves to judge the parents rather than do their jobs. The State Boards allow them because we are in the minority and they only care about how they rate compared to other states. (it is all about funding, of course) The Office of Special Education openly admitted in 2000 that they could not make the state boards comply. This is because they could care less about our children, either. Otherwise they would have held back funding or distributed funding differently. They could get their compliance IF they truly wanted to. But with all minorities, there just isn't a desire until there is a monetary motivator. So much for "no child left behind".
