Response to Question for parents

Support on the internet is helpful. It's so hard when you need support because you need to talk to someone as soon as possible. A system begins on emailing back and fourth and waiting, and waiting. I have an autistic son that's
17 years of age and at times when I need support I feel like the same day that I found out that my son has autism. What would be a lot of help to parents is having a parent tell about their experience and step by step they had to take to get help for their child and letting them know that they cannot depend on someone else, they have to be strong advocates for their children. I have been through a lot of struggles with my son but I had to remain in control of my feelings. I have been to Washington, I am a parent that is very much involved in my son's life becasue the cannot commuicate and i avhe to do it for him.

Thanks for your support!
