| Let me start by saying I'm no great shakes. I can be a bit of a slacker and I'm not busy pursuing my Doctorate in subatomic nuclear particle physics or anything. But I generally get the job done and done well on both a a personal and professional level. I do my due diligence and live up to my commitments. Maybe that's why I am dumbfounded by shocking ineptitude of others.
BAD NEWS: Our accountant made a $10,000 mistake on this years income taxes.
GOOD NEWS: The IRS found it and deposited it in my checking account. My dumb-ass accountant apparently didn't add in one of our quarterly payments under "taxes paid". I'm glad the friggin' IRS is looking out for me!
BAD NEWS: The loser at the boat yard has been promising to reinstall my starboard engine and fix the fucked up bottom paint he applied last year (at great expense). He hasn't returned a phone call in three GD weeks! He promised by email to do it three weeks ago and then again this week. I have guests coming for the weekend, Saturday will be sunny and warm and there's no real indication that the work will take place today. Its cold and raining so he can't paint the bottom anyway. None of this prevented the cocksucker from billing me (through the marina) for the incomplete work. I could go on and on about his excuses and the money I've already paid him for the transmission repair but you get the picture. I'm seriously considering a civil suit for loss-of-use and the probable need to correct the lousy bottom paint job.
GOOD NEWS: Well, I guess the Whaler's in the water so I can take folks out for a putt on that anyway.
Oh, and my Mother in Law will be here within hours. |
