Most of the ones I've seen are two-layered fabric, BUT N2N Bodywear sells some with a floating AND detachable pouch (that wonderful velcro stuff, again!). They have a nice cut and style unlike the "others" which are pretty much knee length.
The degree of compliments can be related to one's general appearance in shorter shorts, period. Jeffrey, as a regular runner, is probably reasonably lean and muscular, I suspect, rather than otherwise, and probably looks good in most anything he might drape over his body. Color against the skin can be important, too. Plus, wearing them while running and moving would be different than wearing them to the mall, for example. LOTS of factors involved as to how they might look on you. Reminds me of "The Streak" . . . "DON'T LOOK, ETHELLLL!! To late . . ." LOL
