Response to How good is my Dimage A2?

For the price of some Bridge Cameras and what you probably originally paid for the A2...

I do not think any lens on a Bridge Camera compares to the GT, but if I had to pick a few though-

That go as wide or wider- Fuji Finepix S100fs(for price though go DSLR), Olympus SP-570UZ, Panasonic DMC-FZ18, Nikon Coolpix P80- I thought there was a Sony 24-240...discontinued model maybe edit I looked the R1 was 24-120 but not Image Stabilized.

That do not go as wide- Canon powershot S5-IS or G9, Sony has the DSC-H50 or H9, H7 that is 31mm on the wide end, H7 missing some features of the H9, but almost $100 cheaper if can live without them.

If you made me pick a bridge above - I'd say the Panasonic and they also make some quality pocketables/semi pocketables TZ4 and LZ10, and all have Image Stabilization as well.

I'd go to dpreview and use the buying guide/side-by-side comparison they offer- http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sidebyside.asp

Some of those also have Full reviews with detailed info, Crazy how some of something and other's don't and for me there isn't one with everything I would like

Check out the thread I started at the renegades forum on DSLR recommendations- http://www.network54.com/Forum/261411/

The Olympus E-510 with 2 kit lenses for $620 would give you 28-300 in 2 lenses at a reasonable price and is a compact DSLR.
